Business Travel Accommodation - The West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour

It was my first helicopter ride ever and to this day it is still one of the most memorable activities I've ever done. I took the West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour over 20 years ago.

Boy was I wrong! So naturally I assumed there weren't any, but I never saw any waterfalls, i've hiked many of the valleys in the West Maui Mountains as a kid. Our family had a taro farm and raised pigs in a valley toward the back of Lahainaluna High School called Kanaha. I grew up in Lahaina.

Because we departed in weather conditions that most guidebooks would consider to be less than ideal - it was in the afternoon on a rainy (drizzling) overcast day, my initial impression of the West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour was concern about visibility.

The Wall of Tears

I wanted to land and jump in for a swim! The rainforest floor was also abundant with sparkling-blue pools fed by smaller cascading waterfalls. I was literally in awe by the sheer number of waterfalls concentrated in this one valley. The West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour took me into Waihee Valley to see the jaw-dropping "Wall of Tears" with over a dozen segmented waterfalls streaming down the face of this majestic valley.

Honokohau Falls

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters flew the aerial photography. For a long time many tour operators referred to it as "Jurassic Falls" as it was featured in a scene of the movie Jurassic Park. The magnificent Honokohau Falls plunging in 2 tiers at 1100 feet, my West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour continued to the tallest waterfall on Maui.

And it's unnecessary to substitute them with flamboyant or easier to pronounce names, the given names contain the rich beauty and history of the area. Are using the proper Hawaiian place names during the West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour, like Blue Hawaiian, i'm glad to see that many operators.

Weather and Rainbows

So don't let a little rain scare you from the ride of your life! Guess it's only visible when you're in the air. I'd never seen one from the ground. The sun hit the light misty rain coming over the Mountains in just the right angle to treat us to the most amazing full-circle rainbows, but when our West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour eventually got around to the leeward (Lahaina side) of the mountains, i was in no hurry to leave the lush valleys and waterfalls!

Iao Valley

The West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour concluded with a visit to Iao Valley State Park where an epic battle was fought between the armies of Kamehameha and Kalanikupule to unite the Hawaiian Islands under one Kingdom.

Then I would highly recommend the West Maui Mountains Helicopter Tour, or are on a tight budget or have a large family (tight budget), and maybe a rainbow or two. . . And more waterfalls, waterfalls, if you like waterfalls, so. Next to the West Maui Molokai Helicopter Tour this is one of the best, in my humble opinion.
